Auckland Region Outrigger Canoe Association Board Nominations closing 8th May

To all AROCA Clubs We have recently had two board members stand down after a much appreciated time on the board. Sandra Staub and Josh Perese have been members of the Board since its inception in 2015. Both Sandra and Josh have made a great contribution the Region, not only in furthering our strategic goals (especially, Sandra with finance and Josh with competition), but also at the AROCA events throughout the year. Unfortunately, changed work pressures for both Sandra and Josh has led to their resignations. Both the Board, and we are sure all our member clubs, thank them for their support and input over that time, and we wish them well. In accordance with the AROCA Constitution we wish to fill these Board vacancies.

The Board meets roughly on a 6 weekly basis, generally on a Thursday at 6.30am – 8.30am, at Alexandra Park.  Michelle provides us with invaluable administrative support at and between our meetings and the Board members themselves have portfolios consistent with the AROCA Strategic Plan.  There is also some work to do between meetings, organising and assisting at events and seminars, etc.  We welcome nominations from those who can provide the time and enthusiasm to grow waka ama in the Auckland Region.

The process is that nominations are made by Clubs on behalf of interested persons.  An important part of this process is that interested persons provide a statement of their commitment to the responsibilities of the role, and how they can contribute to growing waka ama in Auckland.

If there are more than two nominations a club ballot (by way of confidential email) will be conducted.

The nomination form is attached and is to be returned by 5.00pm 8th May 2017.

Nga mihi

Peter Reaburn

Board Chair
