As you will be aware the prime minister has announced an immediate lift in the Covid-19 alert status from level two to level three, with a lift to level four in 48 hours. It will stay that way for at least four weeks. This will have a significant impact on our waka ama whānau but for the safety of yourself, your whānau and wider community we are advising all our waka ama whānau to stay home and to cancel all club and team trainings/events for the next four weeks.
This is what that means:
- People instructed to stay at home
- Educational facilities closed
- Businesses closed except for essential services (e.g. supermarkets, pharmacies, clinics) and lifeline utilities
- Rationing of supplies and requisitioning of facilities
- Travel severely limited
- Major reprioritisation of healthcare services
This will have a significant impact on our waka ama whānau but for the safety of yourself, your whānau and wider community we are advising all our waka ama whānau to stay home and to cancel all club and team trainings/events for the next four weeks.
All events on the waka ama calendar in the
next four weeks will be cancelled/postponed, and if the shutdown is extended
further, those events outside of the four-week shutdown will be cancelled/postponed
