This year the PC festival has been cancelled because of the uncertainty posed around the COVID-19 and councils funding policy. We also can not provide the traffic management requirements necessary for the road section. Therefore the road section will change in that the waka will be transported in a vehicle convoy on waka ama trailers and roof racks. Paddlers will continue to do the 5k hikoi to honour the revival of the original crossing by Tainui Waka led by Hoturoa. Everything else involved with the waka ama regatta such as support boats, prize giving, Tainui powhiri and Kaupapa at all points, medals and hangi will continue as per programme on Waka Ama NZ website.
