BACKGROUND

On the 22nd March 2025, the Hei Matau paddling Club will host a downwind paddling event- The M2M. Paddle craft involved in this event are Outrigger canoe 6 person teams only.

The event course will be decided on the day and is wind/weather dependent. There are four standard course options that are used but if the conditions are such that none of these are safe, then alternative courses will be considered. The four main courses are: from either Maketu to Pilot Bay (or vice versa), Bowentown to Pilot bay or Pilot Bay around Karewa and Rabbit Island returning to Pilot Bay depending on wind direction. We have limited the entries to 20 teams only. Teams will be graded with only the most experienced teams racing. Women/Mixed will start at 11am followed by the Men at 11:15am.
