Fiji International Regatta

Fiji's largest regatta since the 1998 World Sprints with confirmed entries already received from Samoa, New Zealand and Australia.

From the 18 - 21 April this year (Easter weekend), Fiji will host an International Outrigger Canoe Regatta as a "Pre-SPG" competition (similar to Pre-Olympics).

The regatta will be run on exactly the same format as the June South Pacific Games, with sprint Races in V.1, V.6 over 500m & 2500m, also V.12 over 500m.

There will be 4 "iron" marathon races from 10km - 30km for V.1's and V.6's.

The marathon races will be very challenging and exciting with a combination of lagoon and open ocean racing in beautiful clear and warm waters.

Identical canoes will be provided for the Sprint races.

However canoes are limited for the marathon races so please confirm your participation as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made.

If entries exceed the number of canoes, then qualifying races will need to be held the weekend before Easter.

We are also considering a canoe clinic during the week of the Regatta which will be conducted by well known author Steve West (Kanu Culture) and champion Molokai paddler, Chris Maynard of Outrigger Australia.

If I could get an expression of interest from you, this clinic can become a reality.
