Where the SPRINT demanded * sprint * power to keep a line . te Kopere is easier to turn but still has good tracking ability when paddled without a rudder.

Each Kanu is hand made by it's designer/creator and finished with durable Gel-coating. While this does make maintenance and repair easy the material add's weight to the craft, as does the basic polyester/fibreglass laminate. But at present the weight is still under the NKOA allowable limit.

While hand laminated Kanu's are not exactly *Formula 1 * technology, the care and effort that goes into them is beneficial because

1. The builder has pride in his work
2. Being a local paddler in contact with his customers, help is provided in maintaining his products.

Less resilient carbon fibre laminates with lighter spray paint coatings are an option for the future, on the sit-on-top model W1, which is under development and based on the same hull-form.
