We were blessed with beautiful weather and great conditions for our annual Whaingaroa Challenge held on the weekend. All races went smoothly with a great race eventuating amongst the Open Men's W6 in the afternoon. Congratulations to Herberts on Tour who took out this category. Equally exciting was the sprint finish in the Open Women's W1 race between Bernie Murch and Leanne Haronga.

The Chrissy Herbert Memorial Trophy for the Open Women W6 was won by Ihi i te Marie and the overall aggregate Wel Energy Trust Club trophy went to WDBWAA. A big thanks to all paddlers who supported us particularly to those who travelled from afar including Nga Tai Horonuku Whanau ki Taranaki, Horouta Waka Hoe, Te Waka Hoe o Pokohinu, Kokiri Tai Patu from Wellington, and Nga Kaitiaki Waka Ama, Rangaunu and Nga Hoe Horo from the north. Thanks also to all those paddlers from the AROCA region and of course our own Te Puku o te Ika region.

The atmosphere at the prizegiving and kai at the Kokiri was great. A big thanks to the cooks, once again, dinner was awesome!
