Long Distance Nationals update 3

Last minute information for those attending the 2006 long distance nationals

All paddlers please be advised that race conditions this weekend will be closely monitored by the NZ Coast Guard on a race-by-race basis due the variable conditions we experience in our harbour.

They will also be monitoring the course, and if necessary last minute alterations may be made. These will be explained before every race at the race briefing.

As conditions will vary throughout the day, please treat the race times already published as indications only.

Where possible races will be brought forward. It is important that you are on site AT LEAST 1 hr before your advertised race briefing.

Safety - ensure you have all safety equipment on board, including spare paddles, bailers and life jackets/flotation devices, at least 1MSA approved flare and tow rope for W6 (refer NKOA Race Rules 47.0 and 48.0). Teams that fail safety checks will not be allowed on the water.
Every waka must be safety checked before every race.

Registration - every crew member must report to Registration and be checked off before going on the water. Race numbers will be issued/recorded.

Dinner - paddlers will be issued with their dinner pass. Non-paddlers to purchase dinner tickets $15.

Bar - will be a ticket bar - no cash. Purchase your drinks tickets on the night. NOTE - this is NOT BYO.

Parking - Trailers. The council have requested we park trailers at the venue, not up the road at the alternate site. Security will be on hand Friday night only. There will be people guiding you where to park.
