I think the Mokoia race must be the only 15km race that feels like 20km.

The journey out to the island is somewhat deceiving, with mild, choppy conditions.

The back of the island is like glass, but when you come around the corner for the home stretch the wall of wind hits you in the face, a couple of nice cold waves cut across the canoe and suddenly everyone is wide awake again.
