The club is involved in promoting and coaching waka to people from Taranaki towns of Waitara, Patea and Opunake.

Waka will be used on the local awa and lake by people whom Otaikokako has been training. Transport and indemnity to be agreed.

This is precursor to getting 11-18 year old young peoples teams to an inaugural regional sprints in March and then onwards to secondary school nationals at end of March.

This is also a precursor to establishing clubs in these towns and for people there fund raising to acquire their own
