This year we are out to prove the event and we've been extremely pleased at the level of support we have received from companies like Northbridge Properties and Bayleys North Shore.

The North Shore City Council, The Sin Bin Sports Bar and the Takapuna Beach Business Association are also strongly supporting the event.

Like us, they see the potential for the event to grow on the international circuit and take its place alongside the hugely successful Hamilton Island Australia and Molokai Hawaii Blue Water world class events, says Ken Gilbert, Race Director.

And in a really exciting development, Sky TV have confirmed their interest in the Takapuna Beach Cup this year. Plans include creating a 60 minute Television programme of the race which will be broadcast in March 2007. Additionally DVD’s of the event will be being made for subsequent sale.

As at 2 February 2007 a total of 19 entries have been received for the 42km race and as earlier advised most of the guns of the sport are going to be there.!!
