For many it was a first time paddle on this side of the lake which usually has a few bumps in it to ride on but none were present on the day apart from the blistering wake trailing behind the race leaders in the singles and the W6’s.

It was fantastic to see so many new faces, teams like Hawaiikinui Tuarua who travelled up from Otaki to win there division on the day and to our whanau from Te Uranga O Te Ra- Mareikura , Ngati Kahungunu, and one of our bigger supporters of the Roto Hoe Te Waka Hoe O Pokohinu and Waitakere .

It was great for our Club to have hosted you all here for the day and hope you thoroughly enjoyed it as much as we did and look forward to the next Roto Hoe.

The competition was fierce with the "Tauranga Harbour Challenge" just around the corner this was always going to be used as a gauge as to where each team will be seated for that event.

The 15 Km W6 Journey was always going to be the draw card for this race and we were pleased to see none of our Kaihoe was disappointed with the end result of the day.

The W1's turned into a gut buster being a straight 6.5Km sprint with a pleasing yet consistent result for our competing World Champion Hemi Wahapango who took full honours finishing first overall.
