Postponed - AROCA 10km

Due to the adverse weather conditions in Auckland this weekend, to postpone this Saturdays 10km event to a later date, yet to be decided.

The AROCA Executive, in consultation with the ARC, Coastguard and Host Club Pakuranga, have decided, due to the adverse weather conditions in Auckland this weekend, to postpone this Saturdays 10km event to a later date, yet to be decided.

Please Note this decision was not taken lightly, the safety and welfare of our paddlers is absolutely paramount.

The alternative course, to the mouth and back up the Tamaki Estuary, still posed unpleasant conditions with wind over tide, as well as the Subritsky Ferries incoming and outgoing activities is just too much risk with no room for error.

Those paddlers who have participated in this event over the years will be aware that this is the first time the event has ever been postponed. In the past, the alternate courses have been sufficient to negate the risk, but unfortunately this weekend that is not the case.

Pakuranga Club fully supports this decision and looks forward to hosting the rescheduled event in the near future.

On behalf of the AROCA Executive and Pakuranga Club, could all Clubs please forward this panui (URGENTLY) to all paddlers who are scheduled to participate in tomorrows postponed event, including all out of Auckland paddlers.
