With a time of 5 hours, 50 minutes and 58 seconds the crew faced a relatively calm channel crossing with a consistent north easterly wind, easterly swell and the current in our favour. This meant a fast race with the top crew (Team Bradley) finishing just 2 seconds outside of the course record.
Our team consisted of four members who had never participated in the Molokai to Oahu race. With three of them only aged between 20 and 22, they have been exposed to a whole new meaning of outrigger canoe racing and are highly motivated to participate in other similar races, well done to the "Baby ROCs!"
The team members are as follows:
· Anita Taggart
· Bernie Murch
· Dallas Ashmore
· Heidie Ver Hagen
· Hinemoa (Bush) Nepia
· Kinu Lucas
· Kehau Lau
· Lorraine Patterson
· Lara Collins
· Phillis Meti

We all learned a lot from the race and the entire experience. The training required leading up to the event, the freezing cold early mornings, the organisation the teamwork the commitment and the bruises. There is no doubt that we have all taken away a lot of knowledge as individuals and as a crew. All things which will add to and enhance the next big adventure! Watch this space…
Yours in paddling
