Regions will be allocated a restricted number of waka for use in the W1 event. This will be based on the number of waka required to service the number of entries per category, per region. The focus is safety and also to ensure that the programme is not held up by paddlers waiting for specific waka which may be in heats that are already on the water.

There is no restriction on the model of waka that may be used. Regions will be responsible for organising their fleet of waka to be used by their region's paddlers. The W1 event entries are regional not club.

The main issue for NKOA is ensuring the health and safety of paddlers in the loading bay area. With this in mind it is necessary to reduce the number of waka allocated to each region.
