Lane 9 is usually a spare lane for racing and as such will be allocated to the slowest seeded paddlers, or international teams.

We have a couple of entries from Australia, they can only race in the outside lane, and can only progress to semi's and finals in the outside lane, so it does not effect the regular progressions for NZ teams.
