Whakatane put on the sunshine for a great day of paddling.

The paddlers started at Thornton and headed along the coast 17 kms to Whakatane. Some of the more experienced paddlers stayed close to the shore so they could play in the waves while the not so brave enjoyed the light swells further out.

There was some nice swells on the Whakatane Bar which gave the paddlers some nice good rides in.

After a short rest they were all of again for a run up the river 5kms and back.

Raanj will be holding another one of these events in 2 weeks time, and I am sure the Whakatane sunshine will be there again.
