They are wondering if two or three local Waka Ama clubs would like to be involved in the festivities.

The event is scheduled for Sunday October 26th with Greenpeace planning a flotilla on the Lake (with the permission of Ngati Tuwharetoa).

There will be DJ's, a mixture of Maori and general media plus lots of eco-friendly businesses and groups taking part in the day.

An informal race on Lake Taupo is proposed, with the help of the Waka Ama clubs who are available/interested. There would be great coverage of the event and it would be a cool opportunity to promote Waka Ama - basically it will be a fun day with a good kaupapa too.
