NKOA - Meeting Summary Nov 2008

As activity builds for the waka ama community, Nga Kaihoe O Aotearoa Council met by teleconference again to keep costs down but ensure productive endeavours for the Sport of Waka Ama.

Readers are reminded that queries of any kind, with respect to waka ama, in the first instance should be directed to their Region Rep or Committee, who in most cases are well up-to-date on issues.

Finances
The 2006/07 annual financial report has been submitted for Auditing, with the 2007/08 report soon to be submitted. It is envisaged both reports will be fully Audited by March 2009. This will give a true and accurate account of the NKOA financial position. Most outstanding income has been received due to invoices being distributed since the last meeting, thus allowing payment for overdue
accounts and confidence in clearing outstanding accounts by March 2009.

Per Paddler Fee
A comprehensive document will be released shortly to explain the implementation and process of the Per Paddler Affiliation Fee. Readers may note that this affiliation fee is paid once annually. Members are identified when registered on club rosters any time during the year, therefore not only paddlers at National Sprints are charged. The system is also able to track paddlers racing under multi clubs throughout the year and NOT charge these people more than once.

2009 National Sprints
Panui #1 has already been released and Regions may been keen to hear that there will be no restriction to W1 type or number of canoes as sufficient space will be available. More information will be published in Panui #2 by the end of November.

Official T-shirts will be made available to purchase online prior to the event, so to avoid disappointment keep checking the Website.

A request for tenders will be released within the next 2 weeks for catering services to Event Volunteers.

Invitation teams from Samoa and Australia will be participating, bringing added excitement to the National Sprint Event. These teams will race in Lane 9 and do not qualify for any medal awards.
