Te Au Rere Waka Ama Club became Waiariki/Bay of Plenty Sports Club of the Year. They were able to take the top honours at these regional awards ahead of several other prominent sports.

Finalists in the Opens Category for Team of the Year were the J19 Women Worlds crew, Team Rakeiao and National winning team Occ Encore.

In the Secondary Schools Awards, Coach of the Year for Waka Ama was Fred Whata. His team, Kaituna, from Rotorua Boys High School won the Secondary Schools Boys Team of the Year. Te Whaeoranga Smallman was also a finalist for the Secondary Schools Junior Sportswoman.
