Update - Bhutty Moore-morial Race

We paddle out into the storm and those that do not come back have been chosen for Tangaroa's paddle team, he only selects the best.

This event is to honour Bhutty, our mate who Tangaroa took for his team last year. We want to thank everyone who has put their hand up to race.

We have over 80 paddlers toeing the line for Friday’s inaugural event. Everyone has come out to play, which honours our mate greatly.

FORECAST
Bhutty has sorted the conditions for us.We have a nice 1m Nor-east swell and a 10 to 15 knot Easterly wind predicted. And we will at this stage be doing the same run we were doing the day we lost him.

REGISTERING
Be sure to be at race rego early as we have more than expected to be registered. Either mark payment tonight (make clear reference details) or bring your cash tomorrow morning.

Race briefing is at Pilot bay at 9:00 sharp. We will all head to race start together after briefing. Be sure that you have sorted your shuttles out. You need to provide your own way to race start.

SAFETY
Make sure you have everything on the safety checklist or you will not race. Hutchwilco have provided everyone with a whistle, you just have to supply the rest. Leash, Flare, life vest, Spare paddle (All Oc’s), Bailer (cockpit oc’s).

MEMORIAL SEAT
A few of Bhutty's mates have been working with council and are placing a memorial seat on the Mounts Marine Parade at 7:00pm Thursday night for those wanting to attend. If you can help with some $ then please either bring it along on the day or for more info contact [email protected]

AFTER PARTY
Remember the night of the race we have a party planned up in the Papamoa hills. There is mountain bike ride sorted for those not racing to blow some time while the rest are catching some bumps down the coast and heaps of room for tents if you want to stay over. Please feel welcome to come and be apart of it all. More the merrier.

RAFT RACE
On the Saturday and Sunday afternoon there is a Raft race in Kawerau. All are welcome to make up teams of 4 or 6. It’s a sprint, head to head, and slalom race on a simple grade 3 rapid. Contact [email protected]
