Update - Trans Taupo Race

Update two…. 8 days to go and counting down to the Trans Taupo

Prize-money and free personal entry to the following year’s event will be up for grabs for the fastest individual male and female across the lake.

The quickest multi-seat craft will also receive prize money.

All craft participants that go under the Sub 4hr mark will receive a half price entry into the 2010 event.

On top of this there will be additional cash bonuses if the overall and craft class category course records are broken.
11 more entries have been received since our last posting mid-week. They include more surf ski, single sea kayaks (both plastic and composite) and outrigger entries.
One of those entries was from Simon McLarin, the inaugural 2008 Trans Taupo race winner coming back to defend his title. The 2nd Kiwi home in the King of the Harbour earlier in the year, he now holds race favoritism on entries received thus far.

We have broken the half century with 59 craft set to take the water at this stage, and 75 paddlers/rowers involved.
Here are the stats for each of the different class and categories entered as of midday today.

There is still time to enter before the late entry comes into effect. If you have any concern your postal entry may not reach us in time, please drop us a call.

Regardless, late entries will also be accepted at registration at the Tokaanu Te Wharewaka Water Sports Complex at the end of the Tokaanu tailrace between 2:30-6:30pm on Friday 27th March.

Again we’d love to see you at the event.
