Results - Omaha's 18km/15km Mixed Ocean Challenge
19 waka entered the race. There were only 3 W2 entered, with the remainder being W6, racing in either Open division or Senior Masters division. A number of W1 waka joined in on the day also.
We extended this years race from 15km to 18km which took us from Omaha Jetty up the harbour and heading out to round a marker vessel off Cape Rodney.
The day started cloudy but calm, as the race got under way a sou-easterly strengthened creating a chop running across the course which continued to build, threatening the stability of the waka and providing a serious challenge for the paddlers.
