Results - Mauao Ocean Hoe Race 1
A big thank you to all the paddlers who made the first of the series happen.
Three J16 crews took to the water for the 6km race, with Ruamata & Horouta boys enjoying the battle for 1st place. Hoe Aroha’s J19 boys enjoyed the on water tuition from Tyron paddling alongside them in the W1.
Hei Matau Women’s broke away once around Tangaroa and kept their lead the entire race, well done.
From what I hear there will be some hearty competition next race to take 1st place off you girls.
Should be some good action then. Hoe Aroha’s new/novice open men’s crew had a blast paddling alongside Goodyear, and then once around Tangaroa reality set in and we watched the all too familiar scene of their back’s getting smaller, and smaller.
The wind had picked up by the end of the last race and there were quick handshakes before waka’s were loaded and everyone scarpered.
Once again thanks to everyone for your support, see you all June 13th.
