IVF - Va'a to feature in 2016 Paralympic Games

Tuesday July 28th, at the International Canoe Federation’s office in Lausanne Switzerland, a very important meeting has been held in between MM. Jose PERURENA, President of ICF and Charles VILLIERME, President of IVF. Was present MM. Simon TOULSON,

That important meeting for the future of the Va’a and Canoe has ended up on a resolution to sign as soon as possible a partnership convention in between the 2 Ifs.
The partnership will rise up the short, middle and long term actions.
The short Term will be for:
1) the setting of the introduction of the Va’a in the 2016 PARALYMPICS GAMES and most of all;
2) the rudder can’t be used in all flat water or sprint races especially during the ICF handy world sprint witch will be held in Canada this coming October. That decision will allow all adaptive (legless paddlers) to participate;
3) the signature of the Convention before the end of 2009 year. The convention will contain:
a) the total respect of each IF’s autonomy in any aspects of their development plan ;
b) the officialisation in any levels of the terme VA'A;
c) the use of the rudder is FORBIDDEN in all sprint or flat water competitions.
The middle and long term will be to solidified the partnership witch will, crossing fingers, end up on the glide of a VA’A in the Olympic Games.
