So what is so important about this marae ?

Well, Te Puna o te Matauranga Marae is the marae at which the NKOA Waka Ama Strategic Plan was formally adopted this weekend at the NKOA AGM.

This weekend just been was the 2009 AGM for NKOA which was held in Whangarei. Many thanks to our kind hosts, Tai Tokerau.

It was a long weekend with a series of meetings, starting with the Sprint Nationals "working group" meeting on Saturday in Auckland.

From there we all drove up to Whangarei in the van, with "Staller" Collison at the Wheel, and Lara "Cash" on the soundz.

On the Sunday morning we had an NKOA council meeting, followed by the NKOA AGM in the afternoon, and last but not least, a mean feed put on by Ralph, Auriole and the whanau from the Te Puu Ao club.

As I mentioned earlier, the highlight of the trip was the formal adoption of the NKOA Strategic Plan. A lot of hours have gone into that document, and I would like to thank everyone that has contributed to it.

The plan is going off to the printers shortly, and we will be sending copies out to all regions, clubs, and strategic partners, and it will also be available on the website.

Now that we have set the direction, all we need to do is start working towards those goals.

It's hard to believe it has already been a year since the last NKOA elections, but it does feel good to have made some substantial progress for the sport.
