The idea being, that a group of clubs buying a large number of these from a single supplier, may be able to negotiate a significant discount to the price.

Every waka needs at least two means of raising the alarm when things go pear shaped. VHF is the first line of raising the alarm, EPIRB the second, then flares and cell phones in waterproof pouches come in behind these.
