Panui - Worlds Trials

Thanks to all those who attended the World Sprint Trials at Karapiro over the weekend.

The event was a great success and there are many people to thank for that. A very big thanks to all the individuals that volunteered thier time as spotters, timers, announcers, loading bay, rego, support boat drivers, Starters and Gillagan etc....

Also special thanks to Marinna for managing the tower/admin and results and for all the hours put in to the pre event work.

Full results will be emailed to all contingent managers to forward on to thier paddlers.

A big thanks to the AROCA region for stepping up and assisting with Waka. 10 of the 12 Waka were supplied by AROCA clubs.

At the time of writing this the World Sprints is 178 days away......and counting. That is only 25 weeks!

Important information:
You will see from the results that there are some crews, junior and senior that did not meet the qualifying standard in the turns race. However every crew qualified in the 500 straight races - Awesome! The Worlds Management commitee have reviewed the results and have decided to allow all crews that quailied in the 500m to also compete in the Turns races in Noumea.

So congratulations everyone! Now the hard training begins!

The qualifying times were based on the last placed time of the finals in Sacremaneto. It is now your job to build on the these results from the weekend and improve so that we are not competing for a place in the final but rather a medal around our necks. - We are all now members of the Aotearoa Worlds Waka Ama Squad.

A further Panui will come out within the next 10 days with further information regarding Travel, Accommodation, Uniforms, W12 and some answers to frequently asked questions.

In the mean time Crews and individuals are asked to pay the financial installement that is due this week.
