Hutt Secondary Schools Junior Waka Ama Sprints

A Fantastic day on Wellington Harbour despite the 25-30 knot northerly wind and showers. A fantastic group of volunteers from Hikoikoi Waka ama and from clubs in the Hoe Tonga region contributed to the success of our 1st Hutt Secondary School Junior Waka Ama Sprints.

With funding assistance from KiwiSport and supported by Wellington Tenths Development Trust, Hikoikoi Waka ama were able to deliver a 6 week introductory waka ama programme leading up to this regatta.

8 Secondary Schools in the Hutt participated in our programme with approx 95% being new to paddling:
Naenae College
Taita College
St Patricks Silverstream
