Its the 6th year of this annual memorial race for James Moore who tragically died paddling the same race course on the 26th July 2008.

This race is too honour the great man that he was. died too young and was loving his paddling at the time, training over 100kms a week to prepare for Molokai.

February is know to have more SE winds than any other month and we have started from maketu 4 out of 5 attempts with one going the other way. We plan to make it downwind if there is any. 2 years we have had great conditions with some more side or just flat. No matter what conditions we will be racing. As James would, he dont wait for big downwind. he paddles in all conditions.

The race will be run same as always. With NZs tops paddlers coming no matter and that itself makes for an awesome days racing. Meet early, Rego, Briefing, shuttle, Race, Fuel up with Loaded sports drink and Turkish Delight, followed by prizes from all the great supporters of the event. Each paddler gets a race hat, meal and should be their entryfees worth of prizes. Cash goes to top placings.

As we recommend taking a cell phone during the race we have been testing a sports gps app Endomondo, if you download the app and turn it on during the race.
