GOING THE DISTANCE

Congrats to everyone who took part and supported the 2018 Long Distance Nationals.

The winner of our ‘Go the distance’ draw was  Hinekura Ngataki   – who won a set of lifejackets for Te Paerangi Club !

As part of the competition, we asked

What’s most important to you when it comes to money?

The results show the most important thing for most of you is being able to live comfortably in the future. Many of you said you want to be able to pay your bills and still fund your sport.

A QUICK MONEY TIP

Treat money like your sport

You have laser-sharp focus when you train and compete. That’s because you want to win, right? It’s the same with money. If you want to win and do your best with money, you have to focus, plan and work hard to get there.

So make a genuine commitment to yourself. Keep money top of mind every single day. Focus on saving, not spending. Look at your bank account every day. Read books, talk to others or look online for tips to build your financial health. And every time you reach for your wallet, think: “If I don’t have this thing, would I miss it six months down the track?” If your answer is “Probably not”, then don’t buy it. Save, don’t spend. Every little bit adds up.
