The first level which many of you are familiar with is our foundation level. This includes:
- How to Coach
- Coaching Paddling Basics
- Coaching Steering Basics
- Coast Guard Boating Education Waka Ama Safety Course
- Culture of Waka Ama - Online learning tool
So far we have had 1048 people have completed various Foundation Coach modules and 36 have completed all 5 of the Foundation Coach Modules to achieve the Foundation Coach Certificate.
We are now excited to the announce next level of the coaching framework - The Development Coach.
After completion of the Development Coach certification participants will have the tools required to coach paddlers who are training towards or competing at national events, competing at regional or club events and participating in regular Waka Ama activities.
The modules in the Development Coach Level include:
- Coaching Sprint Racing Skills
- Coaching Distance Racing Skills
- Coaching W1 Basics*
- Coaching Development Steering
- Effective Coaching (Currently still under construction)
- Coaching Specific Communities (Online Tool) (Currently still under construction)
In order to take part in the Development Coach modules, you must first have completed all of the Foundation Coach modules and attained Waka Ama New Zealand Foundation Coach Certification. With the exception of the Coaching W1 Basics Course which is open to those who have not yet completed the Foundation level.
