Ko Tihirau te maunga, ko Whangaparāoa te awa, ko Kauaetangohia te marae, ko Te Whānau a Kauaetangohia te hapū, ko Te Whānau a Apanui te iwi.
We are a small but vibrant community in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Both our local kura and our Sports club TVC are hubs where young people and youth are nurtured in sports such as Athletics, Cross Country, Netball & Rugby.
We are wanting to develop Waka Ama for our young people and have made a successful funding application to purchase equipment. The order we have submitted to suppliers means waka will not be completed until late April.
We would like to take our Wharekura to Secondary Nationals and so are looking to loan 2 W6 canoes from after 2021 Club Nationals to the end of March, approx 9 weeks.

We would be willing to pay for hire-age and petrol costs for delivery and pick up as we will not have a trailer until the end of April as well.
I do understand lending and using Waka is most likely to be a ‘no can do’ as there is always potential for damage to occur and no one takes responsibility.

I can ensure that any gear lent to us will be taken excellent care of, will photos taken before uplifting and of any damage that may occur while in our care.
We would also be willing to enter into a MOU agreement with the organisation or entity that lends their waka.

I can be contacted on this address kohuroaruwhiu@gmail.com  and the following email address [email protected] .
