Te Waka o Aoraki welcome Secondary Schools from across Canterbury and the West Coast to the 2021 Canterbury-Westland Secondary Schools Sprint Championships to be held at Lake Rua on Saturday 6P March 2021. This is intended to be a fun event that offers something to both those new to waka ama, as well as those with more experience. It also provides a pathway for Secondary Schools that want to participate at the Waka Ama New Zealand Secondary School Nationals to be held at Lake Tikitapu, Rotorua from 23rd – 26th March 2021.

Divisions: Takiwai/Novice (Adult Steerer) & Kahuraki/Advanced (Self-Steered)
Events: W6 (5/6 competitors) & W12 (11/12 competitors) 250 metres
Entry fee: $25 per paddler includes - optional trainings, access to canoes, paddles, PFDs and steerers.
