So here we go. To avoid any long winded communication that you would probably get bored reading the nuts and bolts is this: The Poor Knights Crossing 2021 is a no go.

I’m not entirely sure how Paypal works, but I think there is some sort of ‘administration fee’ that is not of my making that will be taxed at the gate when I hit “refund” all those who have paid via Paypal. Those who have paid using online banking will also get a refund as close as I can muster to the full entry fee charged, probably the same amount everybody else gets to make it equitable.

Casting an eye over the race calendar for Waka Ama NZ and Canoe Racing NZ, postponing was just not feasible. But we are pretty sure Tawhiti Rahi and Aorangi (the Poor Knights Islands) will still be there in 2022 so , you know, take it easy man. If the Islands aren’t there next year we are reasonably sure we wouldn’t be racing anyway.

It is all a bit of a bummer, but look at the positives….and when you find them please let me know what they are.

Please be kind to our race organisers around the country. Register early, keep training, enjoy Moana Nui a Kiwa, and hug your kids.

Till next time.

Kia maia. Kia manawanui. Kia Tupato.
