Stunner!!! Was the word of the day for Saturdays race from Whareroa Marae to Karewa Island in an open ocean race. It was by pure choice that those teams whom entered chose whether to IRON all the way, 32km of port dominated waters, with some rolling swells for added interest OR the captivating changeover specialty. It sure is a sight to watch teams water change with precision, sometimes a stroke of luck, as they switch paddlers in and out of the water to their canoes.
How lucky was Tauranga Moana, to have the presence of some very elite paddlers join us. We hope to find space for our mini changeover race & iron on next years calendar. Watch out 2023, Hoe Aroha is going to roll out this awesome annual paddling event for you all.
