Mahi a Atua invests in our future by sponsoring young indigenous children and promoting the inherent rights of indigenous peoples to bring their cultural identity into all the spaces we occupy. This year Mahi a Atua are sponsoring the Intermediate Men and Intermediate Women W12.
National Hauora Coalition is a Māori Healthcare Provider, on a mission to even up the playing field for whānau. Our purpose is to connect whānau with programmes and resources that cater to their hauora needs and aspirations, resulting in better health and social outcomes for everyone. We know that the decisions and actions of today will impact the lives of generations tomorrow.
That starts with our rangatahi, NHC has been a proud sponsor of Waka Ama for the past four years, and this year we are excited to sponsor and tautoko the J16 W12 paddlers with prizemoney for the top 3 teams 1st place $500, 2nd place $300 and 3rd place $200.– our future leaders prospering in te Ao Māori and thriving in te Taiao. Mana Whānau, Whānau Ora! #mokopunadecisions
As per the rules at Lake Karāpiro, all waka, life jackets/PFDs, clothing and footwear will need to be washed before leaving Lake Karāpiro, to ensure we do not spread the species to other waterways around the mōtu. There will be dedicated wash stations set up for waka, ama and kiato in the loading bay area. In addition, there will be dunking bins (with diluted bleach) for life jackets/PFDs, clothing, and footwear along the exit pathway. Please ensure all paddlers comply with the volunteer’s directions to protect our waterways.
