ACC Making learner licensing fun at Secondary School Nationals

Waka Ama Secondary School Nationals provided a great opportunity for NZTA/Waka Kotahi, supported by ACC, to connect with tamariki, parents, teachers, career advisors and kura to promote their range of free driver education resources.

Safer Driver Regional Advisor Arlouise Brooking and Education Advisor Makareta McDonnell made learning fun for students with games, practice test questions in English and Te Reo Māori.

“We had approximately 700 people coming through over three days, 100+ a day doing practice tests, and we did online practice tests with rangatahi who were going to be sitting tests soon,” says Arlouise.

“They were registering on the page and doing the modules, then coming back the next day to show what they had learnt. It’s about creating an appetite to keep them learning and going for it.”
