Reminder: Sanctioning of Waka Ama Events
Waka Ama event sanctioning information and forms are all available online. All events scheduled from 1 November 2013 onwards will need to achieve sanctioning before events are included on the Waka Ama Calender. If you or your club are a Waka Ama event organisor please take the time to read all the information. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact [email protected] we are more that happy help and answer any questions you may have.

Waka ama race in full force
In one of the last long distance races of the year, everyone was out to claim the top prize. More than 100 paddlers from more than 15 teams came to compete at the Waikato Awa Race, the competition was first started in the 90s, and the organisers say they're thrilled with the turn-out.

Atamira - Maori in the City
If you are in Auckland this weekend (Friday, Saturday Sunday) Make sure you get down to the Cloud (Queens Wharf) and check out Atamira....we will be there promoting Waka Ama to the unconverted! would be nice if some of the converted could come down and enjoy the event, check out our stand and try your hand at the Waka Ama Erg!

Last month thanks to our suppliers we gave away 2 waka ama training diaries and a 'crew special' personalised diary for a six person crew donated by KinEli Publishing, 2 Majestic Letterman Jackets, rrp $250 each donated by Elite Sports NZ and a $50 Prezzy Card donated by New Zealand Post. This month we have prizes supplied by Moana Nui, Aquanaut NZ and New Zealand Post to be drawn on 31 August.

Koroneihana Hoe Results
We would like to thank all paddlers and their supporters who came to our event during the annual Koroneihana, in particular our Christchurch paddlers who flew up the night before to paddle with us. Conditions were foggy at the start and then sunny as the race wore on. There was good racing in both the 10km and 14km with lead changes throughout the race. Tupu King was the fastest man and too good on the day backing up his good result in Tahiti. Nicky Kingi had a solid race staying in front of the local women paddlers.

Ohope Beach Waka Ama Ironman Ocean Challenge
PLEASE NOTE that the REGISTRATION close off date for the Ohope Beach Ironman Ocean Challenge Events has now been extended to Midnight, Friday 13th, September 2013. The Event organisers trust this two week extension will help accommodate the late comers.

History: 1990 World Sprints
Louise Henderson has provided us with an original program from the 1990 World Sprints that were hosted at Orakei Basin Auckland. The programme contains a great deal of history and the name of every paddler that competed at the event. Its a great read!
