This Regional Kete is designed to be used as a practical guide, not a checklist or rulebook. You do not need to work through every section in order. Start with the areas that are most relevant to your region, your current priorities, or where you need the most support.
Each section provides practical guidance, reflective questions, tools, templates and links to help your Board, committees, volunteers and clubs strengthen regional capability.
Use the reflective questions to start conversations, identify opportunities for improvement and agree on priorities. Use the templates and resources to help turn those conversations into action.
The kete can be used individually, as a Board or committee, with clubs and working groups, or as part of your annual planning and review processes.
Most importantly, make it your own. Every rohe and Waka Ama community is different. Adapt the resources to reflect your region, its people, capacity and kaupapa, while staying connected to the wider values and direction of Waka Ama Aotearoa NZ.
This is a living resource and will continue to grow. Share what works, learn from others, and use the kete to support ongoing learning, collaboration and the strengthening of Waka Ama across Aotearoa.
Waka Ama Aotearoa NZ is here to help. If you need guidance, support or someone to kōrero with as you work through the kete, please reach out to the WAANZ team. We are here to support regions, share knowledge and help you find practical solutions that work for your rohe.
