Race review:
It as a great day to kick of the Hauraki Series at Ongare Point. Bad weather was predicted but the only thing people could complain about was the heat. Close to 30 degree heat and glass conditions set the tone for the event.
Race 1 had some great battles in the 4km W1 and Novice/Junior races. Turangawaewaes Mike Rogerson was too strong for international Manu Ado from France with fellow team mate of mike Tangi Thompson rounding out the podium.
Race 2 was no different with Open women Wera from Tarawera having a great race to edge out one gold card from Tauranga Moanas Senior Mixed team.
Race 3 had 7 mens crews with Turangawaewae being too fast with Hei mataus Lakers and Pr3zzies rounding the podium.
It was awesome to have teams come from so far, Marsterton, Tuakau, Auckland to be part of the Hauraki Series. The four host clubs or the series all got to see such a high level of competition. We look forward to heading up to Whitianga on the 19th March for race 2 of the series.
