NKOA - Development of a Strategic Plan

NKOA - Development of a Strategic Plan

As you may know, Nga Kaihoe o Aotearoa is about to embark on the development of a new Strategic Plan for the sport, which is a huge step forward for waka ama.

This is being fully supported by SPARC, driven by the Council, and will (importantly) be developed in conjunction with our membership. There will be opportunities at key points for everyone (through your region) to provide your views and ideas from start to finish, with the overall goal of presenting the full plan for ratification by members at the NKOA AGM later this year.

VISISON AND GOALS
We are meeting with Regional representatives and regional presidents on the 17th May to begin this process and we would encourage everyone who has an interest in Waka Ama's future to engage your region into some discussion around where you hope the sport will go. Not just this year or next year, but in 5 years, 10 years 25 Years!

As time is of the essence, we are requesting that regions convene meetings to engage with as many members as possible in the days prior to the Council meeting on 17 May. What is needed is to gather information on the ideas and goals that people see as critical to success of waka ama, what is important to you (The Vision) and what you want to see achieved from your point of view (The Goals).

Attached is a scoping document that will guide these meetings, what the boundaries are and what is being sought.

TIME FRAMES
I understand there is a short time frame initially, and we are aware of this, but as time is of the essence, we want to ensure everyone is engaged in this process and have input from the start. Once the process is underway (on May 17), there is a planned process that will keep people informed and provide opportunities for further input and feedback.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or contact your region.
