BEREAVEMENT: Lionel (Pack) Wallace

Tēnei te ngākau te hotu nei ki a Lionel Tūrongoiti Te Wano Wallance, arā ki a Packet, ki a Pack rānei, kua hinga nei. Kei tana marae, kei Kauriki marae, takiwā o Taumarunui ia e tiraha ana, otirā hei tērā atu o ana marae i kō tata atu, arā, hei Maniaiti hoki ia tiraha ai, kātahi anō ka tanumia ki te rua kōiwi o ana mātua tūpuna āpōpō.
Te Rua, koutou ko te whānau pani, ka nui te aroha ki a koutou e mau nei ki te kākahu taratara, ki te kākahu pekepeke..
We sadly inform the waka ama whānau that Pack Wallace has passed away. He is lying at Kauriki marae (near Taumarunui), and will also be taken a short distance to Maniaiti marae before his burial tomorrow.

Krusty - So sad to hear of the passing of such a noble and humble man "Pack". R.I.P Pack, paddling will never be the same and I will miss seeing you at the waka ama events. Paddle your waka to the heavens old friend until we meet again. Condolences to your family!!

Charmaine - I am so sad to have another long time friend quietly paddle off and leaving us behind. Papa, I will miss your welcoming smile and our quiet chats each time we meet at different events. You have been inspirational with your patience and givingness to the many young ones who I have seen glow in your presence, flourish with your wisdom and thrive within your care. I will miss you so much as will many others. Know however Papa that what you have shared with many will be remembered and shared with the same giving heart you gave to us.
Love also to the whanau. Kia kaha kia maia kia manawa tino nui.
