CHECK, CLEAN, DRY Protocols

As kaitiaki of our roto and awa we are emphasizing the importance of following the Check, Clean, Dry steps for our Waka Ama whānau to ensure we do not spread the invasive clam or any other species in our lakes and rivers around the motu.

As per MPI regulations, all waka, hoe, life jackets, clothing and footwear will need to be Checked and Cleaned before leaving Lake Karāpiro, to ensure we do not spread the species to lakes and rivers around the mōtu. There will be dedicated wash stations set up for waka, ama and kiato in the loading bay area. Please ensure all paddlers comply with the volunteer’s directions to protect our roto and awa.
