At this stage, we are currently working on the premise that our 2021 National Sprint Championships at Lake Karāpiro in January will be going ahead. We know times are uncertain and we are monitoring any changes with regard to COVID-19 moving forward, but we are well into the planning of our major Waka Ama Events for 2021. Online registrations are now open for our Foundation Coaching Courses - Coaching Paddling Basics and Steering Basics. These will both be delivered by Corrina Gage Sunday 15 November in Kaiteriteri after the Waka Te Tasman race. See your club rep to enter online

The executive discussed options in the event of the cancellation. Unfortunately, we feel the opportunity to hold this event again before the end of the year not possible. We will therefore look towards the 2021 Waikato Awa race and hope the COVID is a thing of the past.

Unfortunately in light of the government restrictions due to Covid 19, it has been decided that the 3rd race scheduled in Whanganui on September 5th will be cancelled. Therefore the next race of the Hoe Tonga Paddler Series will be hosted at the Manawatu Boating Club at Foxton Beach on October 17th. This event is still currently being planned and organised and more information regarding this event will come in due course.

The funding is for programmes or projects delivering play, active recreation and sport experiences for tamariki and rangatahi. These may be new or already operating. The Sport NZ Community Resilience fund has been reopened. The fund will be open for applications from 3 August to 4 September 2020 and aims to provide financial support to play, active recreation, or sports organisations who are experiencing financial hardship in the period 1 July to 30 September 2020, as a result of Covid-19.
