Probably the most impressive performance of the day was from the Grizzlies White Master Mens team which came in first in the W6 mens race.

The Grizzlies also organised the day’s events, which included a spot prize for all competitors, and even their supporters!

Going in to the last race of the series at Maraetai on 4 September there are a number of categories which are still very close, and, with 10 points available for first place in the last races, the series winning crews may well depend on placings at the Maraetai event.

The current series totals have only 8 points separating the first three in the Open Women W1, 3 points separating the first three in the Master Mens W6, 6 points separating the first three in the Open Womens W2, and 9 points separating the first three in the Open Mixed W6.

First and second in the Open Mens W6 – Team West and Pupuke Moana Young Guns – are on the same points total and only two points separate Maria Tetohu and Lianne Reaburn in the Master Womens W1.

There will obviously be some keen racing, including from those tanned paddlers just returned from Hilo!!
