AROCA W1 Trials for World Sprints 2008

Auckland Region Outrigger Canoe Association (AROCA) W1 Trials for World Sprints 2008.

Find attached the following files - list of paddlers who have preregistered Expression of Interest, Calendar of Events for AROCA HPD and W1 HPD Trial Entry Form.

We now have confirmation of the use of Lake Pupuke for Sat 8th and Sunday 9th December 2007 at the rowing club side of the lake, and use of the Rowers Clubroom.

All paddlers intending to paddle at the World Sprints 2008 in Sacramento are required to trial, not necessarily in the region they are currently in.
Each region will be offering a programme, so it is in the paddlers best interest to identify which region they which to paddle & train in (best opportunity, most cost effective, etc....)

We have already received expressions of Interest from paddlers who have pre-registered and identified AROCA as their preferred region to train, and trial in. Based on these numbers we have sufficient paddlers to run programmes for the following divisions :

J16 Men and Women
J19 Men and Women
Open Men and Women
Master Men and Women
Senior Master Men and Women
Golden Masters Women and possibility a GM Mens Division

NKOA HPD committee have stated 1x 300 metre and 1x 500 metre trial to be held in December 2007 . AROCA will be conducting its trials on the 8th December with the 9th December 2007 as a backup day if all trials cannot be completed on the 8th. Each paddler must trial over the two distances.

The Waka ama canoe to be used at the trials will be any waka model - RUDDERED with a minimum weight of 16kgs. All waka will be weighed on the day, if you do not own a waka then start negotiating with the owners. There is limited space at the Rowing Club Ramp so the more waka that can be shared (i.e less waka at the lake) will enable the trials to be run more efficiently and smoothly. Aim is to have 3 heats of 6 lanes on the water at any one time.

To register for the AROCA HPD Trial we require Club Treasurer/Secretary to complete the attached Entry Form. Entries close 30th November midnight. Rationale is that all paddlers must be financial members of said club regardless if within AROCA or from other regions.

Commitment fee of $150 per paddler must be paid in lump by Clubs to the AROCA Treasurer no later than at the start of trials on the 8th - all cheques made payable to AROCA . We will NOT be accepting individual paddler cheques - only Club money with signed Club Rego form. (verifying paddlers are financial Club members). Out of town Clubs must ensure they follow the same procedure. Please contact AROCA Treasurer - Jan Nicholson (mob) 021-779900 or e-mail [email protected] or [email protected] if you have any queries. Facilitation of payment by Clubs can be discussed ONLY with the AROCA Treasurer.

Paddlers must check in at the rego desk BEFORE going to the loading bay. There will be communication between the start line, finish line and Admin, confirming starters in each event. If a paddler on the start line is not registered and paid for they will be automatically DQ - NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!

Start time 7am - canoes weighed from 6am

A program will be circulated giving the approx time only when you are to trial, so be onsite an hour before your event.

Please contact Louise Henderson with any further inquiries.

We will have all info posted on the AROCA Web site (www.aroca.co.nz) under the HPD menu as soon as resources are available to load the info.
